The release of the re-recorded version of Taylor Swift’s sophomore album Fearless, now titled Fearless (Taylor’s Version), has been one of the hottest topics in the music industry this year, and millions of fans waited with bated breath for the lengthy set to be released. Now, just one day after it was finally made available, the title and all of its songs have invaded Spotify, and Swift dominates like few before her ever have.
Swift’s name appears in 26 spots on the daily Spotify chart of the most-streamed songs in the U.S. for Friday, April 9, the day Fearless (Taylor’s Version) came out. 25 of those tunes take up space inside the top 50, giving her control over half of the upper quarter of the 200-rung list. That kind of domination is almost expected by someone of her status at this point, but it’s still incredibly impressive.
The Grammy winner claims 60% of the entire top 10 for herself, landing six smashes right out of the gate. Two of those tunes have appeared in the region before, while the other four debut somewhere between Nos. 1 and 10.
Interestingly, almost all of the brand new songs featured on Fearless (Taylor’s Version), which Swift labeled as “From The Vault” (meaning they were written during the Fearless sessions but not released) rank lower than the reworkings of old material. While fans always love to hear something from the star they’re not familiar with, the masses opted to focus their listening on the new takes of older smashes.
Just one song from the 26-track album fails to reach the top 50, and it only missed out by a single space. “Superstar” arrives at No. 51.
The 26 tracks accrued more than 27 million streams on Spotify alone…and just in their first day of availability. All those plays will help many, if not all, of the titles featured on Fearless (Taylor’s Version) make their way to various Billboard charts next week, including the Hot 100.
